"Less is More" Week 50 One Layer - Birds

I was eager to get online this morning and see what the new Less is More challenge was - eager if a little terrified... one layer cards? Not my skill set! Then I saw the theme and jumped straight to 'oh bugger I don't have any bird stamps! do i?'

As it turns out I have exactly 2... a big fussy peacock stamp and an owl from the Woodland Folk - Friends, stamp set, so I settled on that, coloured with promarkers, with a sentiment from the same set.

I'm not entirely happy with it, I think if I did it again I'd use a 4x4 base instead of 5x5, I think there is too much white space, but anything else would be out of place I think.

  1. The owlie is yummy! Understand about using a smaller card - but it looks fine as it is.
If you're not happy about too much white space you could always mask off the stamp and stamp a couple of leaves randomly... but I think it looks good!

  5. Cute owl! I find white space difficult to work with too but I'm learning lots about card layout and letting space work for you. Great catch-all sentiment - you can use this card for pretty much anything!

  6. This looks great... and it doesn't have as much white space as one of my cards... it's just great.
You'll become more comfortable with leaving considerable areas when you're really happy with your placement. A good tip is to stamp your image on a piece of acetate which you can position over different areas of the card to see where it sits most comfortably!
    Thanks so much

  7. I love all the white space but the thing I like best is the way the owl is pointing at the sentiment - Just brilliant!
